  • Thank you Dorota and Neil for having us!!! It was such a fantastic stay at Fernyford Barn – we had a very very lovely holiday esp. the boys! They loved to be with the sheep, the cat and your dog and of course riding your quad bike. Thank you so much! By the way, a perfect cottage, nothing missed, it was like being at home. Take care and see you once again.

  • What a wonderful stay we have had! It has been everything we had hoped for the half term holiday. The cottage is very luxurious and has everything we needed. We have all enjoyed staying on the farm and Neil and Dorota have been very friendly and welcoming. Our guided tour of the farm by Szymon was fun. The girls have loved seeing all the animals and especially making friends with Sparkle. Hannah’s highlight was her ride on the quad bike. We have seen and done so much from our base here on the farm. We hope to return again sometime soon. Thanks so much.

  • We have had a brilliant stay in a wonderful place! The Barn is absolutely stunning. So comfortable. Shower great, kitchen amazing! Decided not to eat out as cooking in the kitchen was so enjoyable! Perfect location. So much to do nearby, just wish we’d had more time. Eloise has loved being on a real farm and so close to the animals, and she adores Liz and Sparkle. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome and we look forward to returning soon.

  • Fantastic cottage and the best equipped kitchen I have come across to date. All the rooms are lovely and cosy and all looks brand new. Samantha had a fab time with Morgan and Barney. Neil and Dorota were lovely hosts and could not do more for us. The beef, beefburgers, sausages were great. We loved every minute of our stay.

    Brian and Sue (Farnham)
  • A very short stay (shorter than we would have liked!) in this lovely farm. The barn conversion is great – very sensitively don, to a high standard. Neil, Dorota and family have been very friendly, great hosts. Hope to come back some day to share sheep and do some dry-stone walling! It has been a great insight into what farming life is really like and although appealing its clearly hard work! Neil - you’re a machine! Keep up the good work.
Dan, Nilma, Mille and Odalice ( Beeston, Nottingham)
  • Very relaxing stay in a well-equipped cottage. The location has given us the chance to explore the area. The quiet location has also been a chance to unwind. Neil, Dorota and family have been lovely, helpful and friendly. Just made it a perfect stay for us. We will make sure to come back again.
Nick, Kate and William (Harrogate, North Yorkshire)
  • What a wonderful place! We wanted to stay on a farm and experience a snapshot of farming life and we have done just that. Neil, Dorota Barney and Szymon have been perfect hosts and made our stay very special indeed! We can’t fault anything; we even got to see a lamb being born. We can’t wait to come back!
Paul and Jo (Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire)
  • We’ve had a most enjoyable week here, despite a lot of rain! We’re especially grateful for the trouble Neil and Dorota took to make our stay here really comfortable, providing a welcome high chair and baby bath for our visiting grandson, and for having a current 1 in 25 laminated ordinance survey map – a rare find in a holiday cottage! They were also unfailingly patient when we plied them with our endless questions about sheep – hopefully we’re real experts now! And finally – thanks to them both for everything.
Terry and Hilary (Vale of Glamorgan)
  • This was our third stop on our honeymoon tour. We’ve had a lovely relaxing time in well-equipped luxury cottage. We received a warm welcome and plenty of friendly assistance when needed. We can highly recommend the farm meat, especially the steak!
Alastair and Janine (City of Bath)
  • This is a beautiful cottage in wonderful surroundings. Everything is finished to perfection, the walking shower is great, and I have never slept in a comfier bed. We thoroughly enjoyed cycling along the Monsal trail into Bakewell, it’s highly recommended.

  • We have all had a super time at Fernyford farm. The cottage is fantastic, the countryside beautiful and the friendly welcome from Neil and Dorota was great. Lauren and Angus really enjoyed farm life with Morgan and Barney too. Great days out cycling on the Manifold and Monsal trails with amazing weather. Lovely sausages and burgers for tea when we got back to the farm! Thank you for an excellent stay.
James, Judy, Lauren and Angus (Morpeth, Northumberland)
  • We are sad to be leaving this lovely cottage today. Such wonderful accommodation and surroundings, made all the better by the hospitality of Neil, Dorota and the kids. Livi has had hours of fun on the trampoline with Morgan and like us has thoroughly enjoyed strolling around the farm looking at all the animals. Even got to watch some sheep moving and shearing! Even tried the local bacon and eggs – very welcome in the mornings! We hope to be back soon! Thanks so much.
Mark, Lorna and Livi (Wexham, Berkshire)
  • We have enjoyed our stay in such lovely accommodation. It has been good to visit local places of interest and to enjoy the beautiful scenery round the farm. We hope we may be able to come back again one day.
    Sue and Brian, (Farnham, Surrey)
  • The scenery and weather have been amazing. The Barn is very well equipped and we have enjoyed seeing the lambs and Belted Galloway cattle. Fish and chips at Longnor are the best we have ever tasted. Thank you Neil and Dorota for all your hospitality and good luck with all your restorations.
Dave, Jane and Eileen (West Midlands)
  • Having found Fernyford Farm on the internet, I didn’t know what to expect. It is a beautiful place with wonderful modern style and all the comforts of home. I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay and have found the location ideal for all of the sight-seeing I planned in and around the Peak District.
    Karen (USA)
  • Another wonderful stay at Fernyford Barn. The accommodation is fantastic, we just can’t fault it. Getting to see real farm life has been a fantastic adventure for our 3 year old. Had some lovely walks in the area and had great fun exploring the farm and the river. We’re already planning our 3rd visit. Thank you Neil and Dorota!

  • What a great place!! Wonderful renovation. Very high spec and very tastefully done, and fantastically well equipped. Bed is super comfy, and I think it’s my best “shower experience” ever! Attentive hosts. Liliana is obsessed with Sparkle the cat. We’d definitely like to return for a longer break, to explore the area more, and chill out in this lovely, cosy Barn. Thank you.
    Lucy, Dom and Liliana (Cambridge)
  • A truly wonderful cottage, such a high standard. You both work so very hard, good luck with sales, hope you get rewarded for all the hard work. Thank you both.
Fizz & George (Lincolnshire), September 2012
  • This place is amazing – finished to such a high standard and so comfy. The first place we’ve ever stayed to provide a proper cot for our son – massive bonus as he slept brilliantly. Only came for a short break and so wish we were staying longer – hopefully we’ll be back soon as our little boy loved it. Location is fantastically close to all the local attractions and walks. We’ve had a fab time. Thank you!!

  • We have had a wonderful week’s holiday here. The Barn is beautifully decorated and equipped. Our hosts kind and thoughtful and the farm makes a great base from which to explore the area. We have been cycling two days, walking three days and visited The Heights of Abraham for a great day out. Neil’s bacon, sausages, eggs and the fish and chips from Longnor have kept us well fed! We all agree this has been our best holiday ever. We hope to be back soon!

Have visited Lyme Park, Chatsworth and The Hights of Abraham. Also the Wedgewood factory in Stoke. The Peaks are wonderful and it is so nice after a busy day to come back to this lovely Barn. Many thanks to Neil and Dorota for a lovely stay. Really enjoyed the eggs and meat too!! Even the weather was good!!

  • We had heard so much about Neil, Dot and family from Alison and Keith and all has been very true. You are so good with everything we needed in the Barn. Dot is so friendly, helpful and full of fun. The kids are lovely! We enjoyed meeting them and I will always remember the day Szymon has joined us to Alton Towers. Every success in the future. Hope the rockery is blooming well soon. Stan enjoyed the company and activities with the farming side. We have had a relaxing, brilliant stay!
Stan & Rita, Alison, Keith & Aiden (Durham)

  • Can’t think of enough superlatives to describe the Fern Cottage experience… Some great walks close by: Hartington, Biggin Dale, Milldale, Alstonfield, The George for lunch (might need to book), Wolfscote Dale. Goyt Valley, the reservoirs and up Cats Tor & Shining Tor for great views. Now off to the Mam Tor, Winits over the Hope Valley en route home.
    Sonia & Martin (Sevenoaks, Kent)
  • Superb!!! Neil & Dorota are a delightful couple and first class at making guests welcome. The Cottage is so well equipped and the design/structure has an architectural excellence! A much needed long weekend rest was achieved for the three of us. Am I repeating myself? Superb! Hopefully making a return trip.
Judith, Des, Yuddi (Solihull & London)
  • Fern Cottage is 5* accommodation, state of the art of water & heating systems, brilliant TV (we helped add Wi-Fi!) Furnished throughout with exquisite taste, kitchen with granite worktops and all possible equipment. Oak woodwork and furniture, enough storage to live here rather than just stay. Then there is the location, remote (vehicle essential) but spectacular, the farm, working but very organised and quite different. The Galloways, Swaledales, pigs, chickens, Fern, Liz and Sparkle the cat wonderful. I haven’t mentioned Neil, Dot, the eggs, meat, Michael’s new friend Morgan – you need a bigger Visitors Book!
    Julie, Adrian and Michelle (Chapel-en-le-Frith)
  • I really like Sparkle and Liz and Fern. The ride on the quad with Morgan was great and so was the buggy. Also the baby Galloways are really cute.
    Michelle
  • Neil and Dot are two of the most hospitable people I have ever met. My 2 year old Ted has had the time of his life, feeding the animals and being allowed to take part in farm life. We loved Bakewell and Ashbourne and despite being born and bred here and then moving away, I forgot how beautiful the area is and its fabulous folk! We are coming back. Thank you so very much.
Lisa, Matt & Ted (Saffron Walden, Essex)
  • I wanted to say thank you for a lovely weekend when we stayed in Fern Cottage earlier this month. We really did have a lovely weekend and didn't want to leave when the time came! The cottage is beautiful and so well equipped, the location is perfect for exploring the Peak District which we love so much, and the chance for Thomas to see a working farm... well he still talks about it now (everybody now knows that the pig was sleeping, the cows said 'moo' and he could see the chickens from the top of the steps!)!
    ...
I really can't express just how pleased we were with our weekend with you. It's probably best described by the fact that I pass your website details onto anyone willing to listen to me!
Nerys, James & Thomas (Wokingham, Berkshire)
  • Thank you for a wonderful short break. The Cottage is beautiful; really well equipped and homely. The hospitality is second-to-none and we’ve all been made really welcome. We’re looking forward to trying your meat when we get home! We definitely be returning for another holiday at Big Fernyford Farm.
    Nerys, Jones &Thomas (Wokingham, Berkshire)
  • Thank you for a real home from home experience on a real farm. Ena has enjoyed having her breakfast taking in the view of ‘Neil’s Beauty Parlour’ and we do hope that Mr Paul fares well. The whole holiday has been Champion of Champions. Fernyford Farm gets a 1st from Ena. We have explored the heights – Mam Tor and the physical lows – 4 caverns including Speedwell in a boat – enjoying all that the Peaks can offer. A good day at Chatsworth, a wet day at Bakewell and a fun family holiday for us all.
Paul, Maz & Ena (Ely, Cambridgeshire)
  • Cottage is finished to the highest of standards, especially the heating system. The hospitality shown by Neil, Dot & family was superb.
    Eric & Ruth (North Devon)
